Baltimore, MD- Franklin Bank of Baltimore $20 18__ as G108 Shank 5.75.34 Proof PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
The bank operated as an unchartered association prior to 1810 and continued in business unil 1891 when it was succeeded by the Equitable National Bank of Baltimore. This exquisite red and black note has an oval portrait of Franklin flanked by a farmer and sailor along with ornate red and black counters. Printed on India paper counted on cardstock with the usual POCs in the signature lines. This card was probably affixed to a Danforth Wright archive book card at one time. Two examples of this design appeared as part of the ABNCo Archives holdings that were dispersed in 1990. A wonderful eye catching note.
