    Description

Spectacular Gem Crisp Uncirculated $50 Brown Back

Washington, PA - $50 1882 Brown Back Fr. 508 The First NB Ch. # (E)586
This is a beautiful note which is new to the census, although it fits into a four note run of $50 Brown Backs, all of which are listed as CU. It's hardly a surprise that this specimen is unlisted, as it comes from an old collection which has been off the market for at least the better part of three decades. This piece has it all, from vivid ink colors to sharp pen signatures, and from oversize margins all around to incredible eye appeal. Fewer than 300 $50 Brown Backs are known from every bank in the country combined, and less than 10% of that number are listed in the census as uncirculated. Few if any of those 30 odd examples could possess the quality and eye appeal of this lovely note. Gem Crisp Uncirculated.
