    Second Ever Public Offering

    Berryville, VA - $20 1929 Ty. 1 The First NB Ch. # 7338
A great note from one of Virginia's smallest and most thinly capitalized of issuers. Despite issuing from its organization in 1904 through the end of the note issuing period in 1935, no large size notes from here are known, and only two small examples have been recorded in the Kelly census. Our records show only one offering of any kind from this bank, with that coming when we sold the massive Emmett Brooks Virginia collection almost two years ago. That piece, grading Very Fine-Extremely Fine, realized $5750 against a pre-sale estimate of $1750-3250. This newly discovered piece, grading a problem-free About Fine, is not quite as nice, but if true rarity and intense collector demand are any guide, expect a realization not far from what the last note from here brought.
