Bethel, VT - $100 1902 Plain Back Fr. 698 The National White River Bank Ch. # 962
This is a beautiful note which is rare as it is pretty. It is one of only three $100 Plain Backs known from Vermont, and is by far the highest grade of the trio. Few high denominations from any state will have the eye appeal of this piece, which displays incredibly white paper, a sharply printed blue overprint which appears to have been applied this morning, and bold pen signatures. We had the pleasure of handling this note over a decade ago, and noted then that we had never seen a more visually appealing note of any type or denomination from Vermont. We still haven't. Choice Crisp Uncirculated.
