Colorado, TX - $20 1902 Plain Back Fr. 650 The Colorado National Bank Ch. # (S)2801 PMG Very Fine 20.
This tiny west Texas county seat community, whose population never exceeded 4600 during the National Bank Note issuing era, was home to six issuing banks, four of which remain unreported to this day. Large notes from the other two issuers are very scarce as well, with fewer than ten large size known from this charter. This moderately circulated $20 is one of the reported notes and is making its first public appearance since a 1998 auction. It faces up nicely for the grade, but does have some damage on its back due to previous mounting.
