    Unique for Town & Bank

Lamar, SC - $5 1902 Plain Back Fr. 606 The Lamar NB Ch. # (S)11080
A fortuitous discovery which is new to the numismatic market and the first note discovered from what was one of only a handful of South Carolina towns yet to be reported. This was the only bank chartered in this small Darlington County community, and issued for only eleven years until the receiver arrived to shut its doors forever in 1928. There are a few small and one slightly larger rust holes, but the overall appearance is rather pleasing, with the note easily grading Very Good-Fine. Any estimate on a note of this significance is merely a guess in a market which treasures rarity above all else, but our experience with notes of this caliber suggests that five figures will likely be just a starting point for a South Carolina note of this importance.
