    Description

Smithfield, PA - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 624 The First NB Ch. # 6642
This one bank town in Fayette County was in business for less than three decades before it succumbed to the depression in 1931. In that time, the bank managed to pump more than $590,000 in national bank notes into the local economy. When the bank when into receivership though, less than 1% of that was still outstanding. This note is only the second known large size note on this bank, and though it doesn't compare to the other which is listed as AU in the census, it is attractive with only a couple of paper breaks near three of the outside corners. Fine.
