Rare & Desirable NB of North Philadelphia Note

Philadelphia, PA - $5 1902 Plain Back Fr. 607 The NB of North Philadelphia Ch. # (E)11908
An excessively rare note from a bank which lasted only seven years before liquidating in 1928. A mere three examples are reported, with only one having been offered to collectors since 2001. A serial number 2 example grading About Uncirculated realized $10,925 at the 2013 Memphis sale, while the piece last sold in 2001, which graded Extremely Fine, fetched just under $10,000. The third reported example reposes in the collection of the Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank. This piece is new to the collecting fraternity and comes from the proverbial "weeds," having been part of a small cash hoard that featured nothing else worth more than a couple of hundred dollars. Pen signed PCGS Very Fine 20, a problem free discovery item sure to see considerable bidding.
