A Second Parkesburg First Charter Twenty

    Parkesburg, PA - $20 1875 Fr. 434 The Parkesburg NB Ch. # 2464
No matter how many notes your author has catalogued, it never ceases to amaze when a note from a bank which has never before been offered at public sale surfaces, closely followed by another, submitted by a second consignor in an entirely different part of the country. That is the case here. Previous to our last sale neither we nor anyone else had ever seen a note from this obscure Chester County community offered at public sale. We then received two from an old time Chester County collector who had obtained them many years ago. Now we are fortunate enough to offer a third, a Series 1875 $20 which is virtually indistinguishable to the example we sold in 2007 which realized $6325. It too bears the signature of Edw. R. Parke as President, a member of the family from which this community takes its name, and displays bright colors, bold signatures, and plenty of eye appeal. A tiny chip out of the top margin affects nothing. Fine-Very Fine, a second chance for the several disappointed underbidders in our last sale.
