Jefferson County National Bank of Brookville, PA, Charter #2392. 1875 $5 First Charter, Fr-404, XF. A very choice note with outstanding color and great eye appeal. The bottom margin is trimmed just into the design and there are three light vertical folds. At first glance the note appears Uncirculated as the folds are light and do not impair the design in any way. All of the printing is dark and sharp and the red overprint is deep and dark, providing a great contrast with the design and the bright white paper. Type collectors have eagerly snapped up the few high grade first charter notes that have appeared on the market. This is a better bank, open from 1878-1933, issuing five different types of large size notes with only seven recorded in the Kelly census.
