Danville, PA - $5 1882 Brown Back Fr. 466 The First NB Ch. # (E)325
The first offering of any $5 Brown Back since the Power collection example (which graded Extremely Fine and displayed the same fancy layout) sold for over $2000 in 2006. For reasons apparent only to the grading service, PMG has assigned a grade of Choice Very Fine 35 Net and mentioned a "foreign substance." We were unsure of whether that meant we should catalogue this item in the world currency section, but finally decided that PMG were referring to a small stain near the Cashier's signature, which affects nothing. Net grading a note like this is not only foolish, but shows the real limitations of third party grading, particularly on National Bank Notes.
