    Attractive First Charter $50

    Allegheny, PA - $50 1875 Fr. 450 The German NB Ch. # 2261
A most attractive example of one of the rarest types in Nationals, as the newest Kelly census data still shows fewer than 100 First Charter fifties from all banks in the country combined. PCGS mentions minor restorations at the top edge, but these restorations are so well executed that they are virtually invisible to the naked eye. The colors are sharp and vibrant, the paper quality excellent, and the signatures bold and clear. We sold this piece in May of 2000, the last time it has been on the market, and really liked it then. A decade later, we like it just as much, as it remains one of the nicest examples of this just plain rare type we've seen offered in recent years. PCGS Apparent Very Fine 25.
