Unique for the Bank & Town- First Ever Public Offering

    Molalla, OR - $20 1929 Ty. 1 The First NB Ch. # 11271
This small community took its name from the Molalla River, which in turn was named for the Molalla tribe of Native Americans prior to its first permanent settlement in 1844. Only one bank was chartered here, with that institution electing to issue Series 1929 notes only. Oddly enough, the bank also chose to issue $20 notes only. Just one note is known to have survived from Molalla's sole issuer, an example Dusty obtained privately many years ago. It has never previously been available at public sale to the collecting community, and its appearance here will allow one fortunate collector both the opportunity to obtain a new town as well as the chance to someday complete a set of Series 1929 Oregon notes by town or by bank. PMG Very Fine 20.
