Purcell, Indian Territory - $20 1882 Brown Back Fr. 499 The
Chickasaw National Bank Ch. # (W)4756 PMG Very Fine 25.A very nice Indian Territory Brown Back, this piece is one of just three such pieces reported for this McClain County bank, and the only $20 in the census from this charter. It hails from the second of four note-issuers to operate in this community, a large-only affair that elected to close its doors in 1927. Last on the market in a 2018 auction, it is well margined with even wear along with excellent color and legible purple stamped signatures. It does have some staining that has been lightened, but it is not at all distracting and this pretty Territorial retains plenty of eye appeal for the grade.
