Description

Cincinnati, OH - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 626 Fifth-Third NB Ch. # (M)20
Fifth-Third's unusual name is the result of the June 2, 1908 merger of the Fifth and the Third National Bank. With prohibition being a very popular movement during this time, it was believed that "Fifth-Third" was a better bank name than "Third-Fifth," which possibly could be construed as a reference to three "fifths" of alcohol. You do not want people that handle your money to be inebriated. Very Good with strong signatures of Jno. B. Farquar and I. Wexler.
