    McGill, NV - $20 1929 Ty. 1 The McGill NB Ch. # 9452 PMG Very Fine 20.
A previously unreported National on a bank that is always in demand. This White Pine County bank was placed in voluntary liquidation on May 9, 1934. It was consolidated with and circulation was assumed by another institution in the county, the Ely National Bank, charter number 9310. The left serial number is overprinted low on this $20. This is a characteristic of a note that had its overprinting plates prepared by the Government Printing Office. The GPO was an emergency supplier of overprinting plates from August through October, 1929. GPO plates were used only for a bank's first printing. Later overprint plates for these banks were prepared by Barnhart Brothers & Spindler of Chicago. The BEP also prepared overprinting plates in-house. This is the first GPO overprinting plate example that we have offered on charter number 9452.
