    Description

High Grade Nevada Serial Number 1 Small Size

    Eureka, NV - $5 1929 Ty. 1 The Farmers & Merchants NB Ch. # 11784
A simply wonderful serial number 1 example from this small, isolated mining community that is from the last of sixteen note issuers chartered within the Silver State. Since this bank only issued small size, it is truly from the first sheet of $5 notes released by the bank. It is a lovely piece that features bright white paper, bold ink colors, and no real evidence of circulation within its PCGS holder. At our auction in Long Beach in 2015, we were privileged to offer a serial number 1 $10 example from this bank and that specimen realized a strong $51,700 on an estimate of $35,000-$55,000. With this specimen just as attractive as that previous offering, we certainly do expect this Nevada trophy note to approach that level. PCGS Choice About New 55.
