Serial Number One Warrensburg Brown Back

Warrensburg, MO - $5 1882 Brown Back Fr. 477 The Peoples NB Ch. # (M)5156
The first of three serial number 1 examples from this bank which can be found in tonight's sale. They come directly from the family which organized this institution, and cover each of the bank's issues, from Brown Backs to small size. The two large notes are the only such examples known, and, fortunately for collectors, both are lovely high grade pieces. This Brown Back is a pen signed beauty, with its only flaw a couple of tiny painted over stains in the top margin. PCGS Apparent Very Choice New 64, a real peach of a note.
