    Description

Unionville, MO - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 637 NB of Unionville Ch. # 13268 PCGS Very Fine 20 Apparent.
An extremely rare note from the last bank in the state of Missouri to issue large size Nationals. These notes were issued for just seven months before the transition to small size notes. This bank received only 63 sheets, by far the smallest issue of any bank in Missouri and among the very lowest of any National Bank in any state. Amazingly, two number one notes, a $10 and a $20, were saved, with both appearing in the Grinnell sale in 1945. The $20 has never again been seen, but the $10 was offered twice in the 1990s before disappearing again after 1996. Neither Fred Sweeney nor Bob Denny ever had the opportunity to obtain a large note from this bank for their collections, but the discovery of this note in the Newman Collection means that one lucky collector will add a new charter in large size to his or her collection tonight. PCGS-noted as "Missing UR Corner; Hinge Remnant on Back." The hinge remnant on this pen signed note is tiny.

Truth Seeker: The Life of Eric P. Newman (softcover)
A powerful and intimidating dealer of the 1960s, backed by important colleagues, was accused of selling fraudulent gold coins and ingots to unsuspecting numismatists. Who would go up against a man like that and, over the course of decades, prove the fraud? Who would expose a widely respected scholar as a thief, then doggedly pursue recovery of coins that the scholar had stolen from an embarrassed numismatic organization, all over the objections of influential collectors who had bought coins with clouded titles? Eric P. Newman would - and did. Reserve your copy today.
