Unique for the Bank & Town

Seneca, MO - $10 1902 Red Seal Fr. 613 The First NB Ch. # (M)7656
A fantastic Missouri note from perhaps the scarcest bank in the state. This bank had the half-life of the proverbial fruit fly, having lasted from its organization in March 1905 to its liquidation in August 1906. Organized with the minimum capitalization required under the law, it issued all of 520 sheets of $10 and $20 Red Seals before closing its doors forever, and until the emergence of this note, no example from this tiny one bank community had ever been seen. Fortunately for collectors, this piece combines grade with rarity, having been graded Very Fine 30 by PMG, with mention made of a minor restoration where a tiny edge split has been repaired. If rarity, desirability, and grade are any guide, this piece may set a record for any Missouri note before the hammer falls this evening.
