    Description

Saint Louis, MO - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 627 The NB of Commerce Ch. # 4178
This banking powerhouse issued so many $10s that the BEP resorted to using "A" prefix letters with the bank serial numbers. That was unusual as very few banks ended up in that situation. Also, the plate letter for this $10 is O4. This indicates that this $10 was printed with a plate from the fourth trip through the alphabet (plate letters Y and Z were skipped as the plate layout for this bank was $10-$10-$10-$10). This pretty example is a bright Very Fine+. Paper originality includes ink transference on the back from the printed signatures of bank officers R.F. McNally and Jno. G. Lonsdale from the following sheet.
