    Description

    Dexter, MO - $5 1929 Ty. 1 The First NB Ch. # 11320
Fives only from this small bank, which, like many rural Missouri institutions, ran into trouble in the early years of the Depression, culminating in the bank's demise in 1931. Like so many banks in this state, large notes are more common than small, as circulation of currency contracted severely among country banks after 1929. The Kelly census shows four small examples. Very Fine, although there is a bit of soil and a small stained area, most visible on the back.
