Description

First National Bank of Clinton, MA, Charter #440. 1882 $5 Second Charter Brown Back, Fr-466, VF. The $5 Brown Back is always in demand because of its great design and fancy layouts, and this is a perfect example. This is an earlier layout with the stacked Treasury signatures and a no-tombstone layout. The bold, fancy signatures add to the desirability of the note. There is a small spot of ink erosion in the top margin above the portrait, otherwise the note is clean and has good remaining crispness.
