    Description

Marked Tree, AR - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 632 The First NB Ch. # (S)11122
Large notes only from this Poinsett County bank, with this singularly named community just across the Mississippi River from Memphis, Tennessee. The city got its name from a tree located on the bank of the St. Francis River that until 1890 that had been slashed to mark a section of the river where Indians could walk about 120 yards across land to reach the Little River and avoid paddling twelve miles upstream. It is the only city in the world with this name. Pen signed PMG Very Fine 20, very likely the finest note known from this sought after location.
