Elusive York Village, Maine 1882 $10 Brown Back

York Village, ME - $10 1882 Brown Back Fr. 485 The York County NB Ch. # (N)4844
Although a literal handful of notes are known from this rare Maine bank, only one has ever before been offered at public sale, with that appearance coming five years ago when we sold a $5 1882 Date Back graded Fine 12 for $8050. This piece is newly discovered and is being offered to collectors tonight for the first time. It's the only $10 Brown Back reported to date, and bears the penned signature of Elizabeth B. Davidson, a female bank president, as a bonus. PMG Choice Fine 15, with some splits and a small penned number in the left back margin.
