Ellsworth, ME - $5 1902 Plain Back Fr. 600 The Burrill NB Ch. # (N)3804 and $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 626 The Liberty NB Ch. # 3804
A gorgeous pair of bright, sharply inked notes that represent both titles used by this Hancock County bank that was in business from 1887 until its closure in 1935. The first, a $5 Plain Back, bears this charter's much scarcer first title and is one of only eight notes reported. The color is quite vivid on this very lightly handled PMG Choice About Unc 58 piece that exhibits deep, original embossing and dark stamped signatures. The second note, a $10 Plain Back in an even higher state of preservation, bears the bank's second title which was adopted in 1919 and used until its liquidation. It is a near-Gem note with the same vibrant color as its predecessor and features fresh paper surfaces and clear stamped signatures. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ. A great pair of notes from the only reported bank in this Down East Maine community. (Total: 2 notes)
