    The only reported note from this short-lived Augusta bank that issued just First Charter notes before closing its doors at the expiration of its charter in 1884. Since then, only this Original Series ace has survived the ravages of time for today's collectors to enjoy. The use of the word Freemans in the title is unique to this bank in the entire country and obviously had some tie-in to the many freed slaves of the Civil War era, a subject that invites further research.
