    Description

New Orleans, LA - $10 1882 Brown Back Fr. 484 The New Orleans NB Ch. # (S)1778
A lovely Louisiana Brown Back which is the highest grade example from this bank in the census. Our consignor was fortunate enough to purchase it from a Spink sale nearly two decades ago, and a finer piece has not come along since. The signatures are bold and clear, the colors fully bright, and the originality is easily evident right through the PCGS holder. The state seal used on all Louisiana First Charters and Brown Backs is one of the most evocative of any, depicting the state bird (the Brown Pelican) feeding four young pelicans. It is devoid of any other symbols or objects, and carries no motto whatever. Extremely Fine 45PPQ.
