    Description

    Rare Laramie Brown Back

Laramie, WY - $10 1882 Brown Back Fr. 487 The First NB Ch. # (W)4989
A terrific Brown Back with a wonderful pedigree, from the 1946 Grinnell sale (where it was lot 3457) to R.F. Schermerhorn and Bill Bailey, thence to Bob Medlar in 1971, where it became part of his magnificent collection of Brown Backs, to a private collector when the Medlar collection was auctioned in 1987, and to our present consignor when this note last appeared on the market in September of 2001. At the 1987 sale it realized $2520, a very strong price for those days, and in 2001 it sold for $8250. In a market that now recognizes the true rarity and the lack of availability of items such as Wyoming Brown Backs expect it to go for more, in fact considerably more, this evening. Pen signed Very Fine, a great note in all respects.
