Leitchfield, KY - $10 1882 Brown Back Fr. 490 The Grayson County NB Ch. # (S)5314
The extraordinary parade of great notes called the Gale collection continues to unfold with offerings such as this pair from Leitchfield, an unassuming county seat community which housed the only issuing bank in Grayson County. Just three notes have survived from this short lived venture, which lasted only eleven years until the bank disappeared in 1911. This collection not only has two of the three, but the best two, with the only other note extant from here grading "Good." This Brown Back grades a strong Very Fine+, with great color and eye appeal. We know we are repeating ourselves, but rarities just do not get much better than this.
