    Finer of Two Known

Lebanon, KS - $10 1882 Brown Back Fr. 490 The First NB Ch. # (W)5799
Although Series 1929 examples from this bank are readily available, large notes are another matter entirely, with few more than a handful issued during an almost thirty year span. In fact, with a total emission of fewer than fifteen hundred sheets during that period, the average output was less than fifty sheets a year. It is no wonder, then, that the census shows only one large note extant from the bank, with that piece a low grade 1902 Plain Back last on the market when offered as part of the massive Kansas collection of C. Dale Lyon some two decades ago. This attractive Brown Back, which combines rarity and grade, is certain to please. PCGS Very Fine 30, a truly rare note from a bank which had just $580 outstanding in 1935.
