Description
Unique for the State- The Only Known Iowa Original Series $20
Pella, IA - $20 Original Fr. 429 The Pella NB Ch. # 2063This is an extraordinary new discovery from a state which, over the past two generations, has been as avidly collected as any in the country. Populated by dealers such as Art and Paul Kagin, Dean Oakes, John Hickman and Lyn Knight, and home to collectors such as Bill Higgins, who established a museum in his home town of Okoboji dedicated exclusively to National Bank Notes, Iowa notes have been more thoroughly researched, counted, and sought after than the issues of virtually any other state. Despite fifty years of searching however, no collector has ever had the opportunity of owning an Original Series $20 from Iowa before the discovery of this piece. While well circulated and displaying all of the defects associated with a note in this state of preservation, this example is fully intact, decently colored, and eminently collectible. Any estimate here is but a guess, but after the hammer falls this evening, only one collector or institution can hope to ever complete a type set of nationals from the state of Iowa. Very Good.
