Atlanta, GA - $10 1882 Brown Back Fr. 487 The Fourth NB Ch. # (S)5045While this institution hardly ranks as rare, offerings of Brown Backs of any denomination have been few and far between. In fact, Track & Price has recorded only two such appearances at public sale since 1990, one in 2004, and one in 1991. The state seal used on this note is the only one that can be found on any Georgia note, and is a generally faithful rendition of the official state seal adopted in 1799. It shows three columns supporting an arch emblazoned with the word "Constitution", with the left column labeled "Wisdom", the center column "Justice", and the right column "Moderation". A minor difference between the "official" state seal and the seal on this note can be found in the figure depicted between the center and right columns. The official seal contains a civilian holding a drawn sword, while the currency seal portrays a soldier holding a musket. PCGS Very Fine 30PPQ.
