    Description

One of Three Arkansas $50 Brown Backs

Fort Smith, AR - $50 1882 Brown Back Fr. 513 The First NB Ch. # (S)1950
An attractive note which is one of only three $50 Brown Backs known from all Arkansas banks combined, one each from Camden, Fort Smith and Little Rock. We sold the Camden note (which also graded Very Fine) for over $24,000 in 2009, and we sold the Little Rock example, which graded Fine, for $16,100 in 2006. With both of those notes now in very strong hands, this may be the final opportunity for many years (if not generations) to obtain any of the three Arkansas $50 Brown Backs. PMG Very Fine 20, with good margins, good color, and clear signatures.
