Newly Reported Serial Number 1 Fort Smith Large Size

Fort Smith, AR - $10 1902 Date Back Fr. 623 The City National Bank Ch. # (S)10609 PMG Choice About Unc 58.
One of the highlights of tonight's sale, this attractive serial number 1 note is just the tenth number 1 large size to be reported for the entire state of Arkansas, according to the National Currency Foundation census. It's also the first number 1 note, large or small, to surface from this Fort Smith bank. Obviously set aside many years ago by a proud bank employee, it is from the first sheet the bank issued in 1914 and displays wonderful color, dark signatures, and only the most minor traces of handling. A true trophy note for either the Arkansas specialist or a collector seeking to assemble a high-end state set of large-size Nationals.
