First NB of Evanston Large Note - The Finest of Three Known

Evanston, WY - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 626 The First NB Ch. # 8534
While Series 1929 examples are relatively easy to find from this Evanston bank, large notes are another matter completely, with the census having been composed of just two examples for many years, both of which graded only Very Good. This piece is a fortuitous discovery, becoming only the third large size example to surface. It is also the finest, having been graded Choice Fine 15 by PMG. The only large size note offered at public sale during the past twenty-five years was the Huntoon Collection specimen, which fetched $18,400 eight years ago. This considerably superior piece with rubber stamped purple signatures may equal or exceed that number before the hammer falls this evening.
