This institution began life as the Citizens National Bank of Hagerstown, Maryland in 1871 before relocating to Washington, DC in 1874. No survivors are known from the Maryland venture, while this example is the tenth to be reported with the District title, according to the National Currency Foundation census. It's also the first $10 Brown Back to surface from this charter and it is an attractive mid-grade piece with nice color and solid margins.
