    Unique for the Bank

    Columbus, OH - $5 1882 Brown Back Fr. 474 The Merchants & Manufacturers NB Ch. # 5029
When we sold this unique Columbus note in 2011 that was part of the Don C. Kelly collection, we said: "Other than the one Columbus bank which remains unreported, this institution, which issued Brown Backs only before disappearing in 1905, is the single most difficult state capital bank from which to obtain an example, as the census shows only one piece extant...and this is it. Not only is this $5 Brown Back unique from this bank, it also features a neat title layout which would make this note a desirable acquisition even if it came from a far less rare bank." Those statements about this pretty, pen signed PCGS Fine 15PPQ Brown Back are still true today and this offering provides a great opportunity for today's bidders.
