    Description

First National Bank of Eaton, CO Ephemera
A collection of numerous documents and effects once belonging to First National Bank of Eaton, CO President John D. Wilson should garner the attention of Colorado National enthusiasts. Documents within this lot chronicle the life of the bank and its struggles through the trying times of The Great Depression and its subsequent receivership in February 1934.

Of special note are two stamps that were used to apply the Wilson signature to the bank's Large Size issues, of which the larger stamp appears to be the one used on the very notes offered in the preceding lots. Among other interesting items are personal ledgers belonging to Wilson and other members of his family, including his father Thomas Wilson. An engraved plate of the elder Mr. Wilson is also included along with a stock certificate from the First National for six shares owned by him. A black and white photograph that appears to be from the earliest part of the 20th Century shows the bank at the corner of an intersection of dirt roads. This lot also contains an oversized panorama photograph of Eaton around 1905. There are many personal and bank related letters as well as 100+ checks from the FNB and the earlier National Bank of Eaton, most signed by J.D. Wilson. A virtual treasure trove of historical insight into a small town bank and the prominent family that operated it.
