Unique for the BankBrookneal, VA - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 633 The Peoples NB Ch. # 11960
One of the rarest notes we have ever offered, not only from Virginia but from every state. This piece is unique to our best knowledge and represents a true miracle of survival, as the bank's total issue was a minuscule 584 sheets of Blue Seals. By the time the bank closed in 1930, its total outstanding circulation had dwindled to just $490. Fortunately for collectors, this note, from the next to last sheet issued, is an attractive lightly circulated piece with bright colors and sharp purple signatures. It also comes bearing the pedigree of the three greatest Virginia collections ever formed, those of Elvin Miller, Emmett Brooks, and The Old Line collection. PMG Very Fine 30, a true trophy item worth whatever it costs to obtain it tonight.
