    Unique for the State

Walnut Ridge, AR - $100 1929 Ty. 2 The First NB of Lawrence County Ch. # 11312
The appearance of this note marks a true miracle of survival, as this institution was the only bank to issue Type 2 hundreds in Arkansas. Only 12 sheets were printed, and, of the 72 notes issued, this is the sole survivor. Needless to say, hundreds from this bank eluded even the most determined of collectors, with high denomination specialists such as Sam Bettis of Tennessee and Donald Gilletti of Connecticut lacking the $100 Type 2 from Arkansas. This note has been absent from the marketplace since its last appearance thirty two years ago in a 1986 Hickman & Oakes auction, but if rarity and desirability are any guide, expect our very conservative estimate to be easily bettered. PMG Very Fine 20 Net, with some scattered rust spots along with a trivial split.
