    Rare Appleton Deuce

Appleton, WI - $2 Original Fr. 389a The Manufacturers National Bank Ch. # 1820 PMG Very Good 10 Net.
First Charter notes only from this rare Wisconsin bank that elected to close its doors in 1885. To date, just four notes are recorded from this charter, only two of which have ever appeared at public sale. One of that pair, an 1875 $5, has not been seen since it sold at auction at 2009. Therefore, this Deuce, the only example of this denomination in the census, may well be the viable option for collectors for years to come. It did spend a considerable amount of time in the channels of commerce, and has acquired some edge damage and repairs. However, it does display an acceptable overall appearance with good color and dark pen signatures.
