Newly Discovered and Unique for the Bank
Oxford, AL - $10 1902 Date Back Fr. 619 The Oxford NB Ch. # (S)9925A great note from one of just a handful of Alabama banks which issued Blue Seals which was still unreported in the new Kelly census. This institution was in operation for only four years and issued Date Backs only before disappearing in 1915. This example, which recently walked into a southern coin shop, is the first and only example known from here, with this offering being the first of any previously unreported Alabama charter in many years. The note is an attractive specimen which, although circulated, is an appealing and problem free Fine+, with good color and sharp purple signatures. Combine the demand for rare Nationals with the number of serious collectors from this state, and five figures appears to be a most conservative estimate for this great item.
