Birmingham, AL - $10 1929 Ty. 2 The Woodlawn-American National Bank Ch. # 13358 Uncut Pair PMG Choice About Unc 58 EPQ.
Serial numbers A000005 and A000006 adorn this delightful uncut pair from this Jefferson County bank. Only the latter note shows handling through the third party encapsulation. The nicely preserved serial A000005 note is a replacement and is stated as such on the third party back label. Signs of brown ink erasure are found underneath both serial numbers with the final digit "5" of the right serial number being skewed. Also, both brown 13358 charter numbers are clues as the left example is lightly printed and the right charter number is over-inked. The BEP used a "paging machine" to add serial numbers and charter numbers for making replacement Nationals. For further information on small size Series 1929 replacements see, Paper Money, the Society of Paper Money Collectors, Vol. LI, No. 2, Whole No. 278, March/April 2012, pages 97-108, "Series 1929 National Bank Replacement Notes."
