    A lovely high denomination note from this Dallas bank and the finest $50 recorded in the Track & Price census. The note bears the printed signature of R.L. Thornton, a prominent businessman, banker, and philanthropist, who served as the mayor of Dallas from 1953 through 1961. A statue of Mr. Thornton is found at Fair Park in Dallas and a highway in Dallas carries his name.
