Serial Number 2 Lynchburgh Postal Note

    Lynchburgh (sic), VA Postal Note
This is the first of four exceptional Postal Notes we are privileged to offer from the collection of Arlie Slabaugh, whose collection of Postal Savings Notes and memorabilia is offered in this section. The Postal Notes are all unusually high grade specimens and represent the progression of these notes from their inauguration in September of 1883, as each represents a different design or printer. This note, a serial number 2 example from Lynchburgh, Virginia, grades About Uncirculated and was clearly put away by a far sighted collector at the time these items first became available. This note is the first type issued, which is printed in brown and black inks on yellow paper with an ornate reverse. It was engraved and printed by the Homer Lee Bank Note Company.
