The first item is a philatelic First Day Cover postmarked April 16, 1945 at the Manila Post Office with seven different United States of America/Philippine Islands Victory stamps. The second item is a Very Fine, cancelled Treasurer of the Philippine Islands check dated January 25, 1910 for 25 Pesos for the exchange of funds between government entities. The portrait is of General Ware Lawton, the only U.S. general officer to be killed during the Philippine-American War and that occurred on December 19, 1899.
