Promissory Note Washington, DC July 31, 1816.
Another very cool item to be offered in this sale. This is a promissory note from the third federal issue of Jan 1, 1814 - Dec 31, 1817 with this one dated July 31, 1816. There is a 25 cent embossed stamp at left with the same eagle and shield that is found on early silver coinage. A huge watermark "STAMP US" is seen in the middle of this note. A couple of light folds and a couple of minor cut cancels are seen. Catalog attribution is RM-277a. Very Fine-Extremely Fine.
