DescriptionIda Ellmore Mining Co. Stock Certificates 25; 50 (2); 100 Shares 1874-75.
The Ida Ellmore mine was located near Silver City, Idaho. Workers of this mine were pitted against miners of the Golden Chariot in the underground Owyhee War of 1868. Both mining companies were working the same productive vein and their tunnels intersected at 300 feet below the surface. This shooting war cost six miners their lives and Governor David W. Ballard called out 150 soldiers stationed at Fort Boise to quell it. Fine, endorsements and pinholes.
