A Different Design Large Bulldog Head

    Glass Eyed Bulldog Head
Over the years, we have owned and examined six or eight large bulldog heads. They have all been of exactly the same design. This one is totally different. It's slightly smaller, and it has its head canted at a different angle. It is hollow, as opposed to the others, which are solid. It's clearly pre-1908, with large pieces of currency embedded throughout. It has a pair of piercing brown glass eyes with pupils. It's entirely problem free, and a very attractive piece. The large label on the bottom is dated June 1, 1901, stating that H. Martin "has been granted the privilege of obtaining from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing macerated currency etc..." It bears the printed signature of William Meredith as director. The label spans the hollow area of the bottom and has torn due to its positioning. But it is entirely legible. Another great and possibly unique item from Wade's collection.
